Lobbyists must attend the Officers' Training session on Thursday before the Model
Government Convention convenes. They will receive training and coaching by official lobbyists.
C.
At the Convention, lobbyists will:
1.
Check committee rosters for Bills of their special interest. (In accordance with the
procedures contained in the Procedures Manual, Lobbyists may speak before the
Committee, but not on the floor of the House or Senate.)
2.
Monitor the progress of legislation introduced.
3.
Establish working relationships with legislators who will handle bills of concern.
4.
Develop contacts in the Governor's Office to influence the signature or veto of bills of
concern.
5.
Learn background facts about issues and provide legislators with information to support
your position during debate on the floor.
6.
Prepare legislation and/or amendments to support your position and seek to have it
introduced.
Special Interest Groups
Each group of two (2) club lobbyists must select and prioritize five groups from this list. Number
your selections in order of preference, one being your first choice.
