YMCA PA Youth & Government Program
the presence of all Delegates.  The Press will direct questions to the Administration and the
Governor prior to opening session of the Model Legislature.
Additional Appointed Positions
Chief Page
Qualifications:
a)
Is personally committed to the purpose and objectives of the Youth & Government
Program and to helping all participants realize its many benefits.
b)
Has knowledge of the total scope of the Youth & Government Program and the
organization, functions and procedures of the Model Government Convention.
c)
Has participated in the immediate past Model Government Convention.
d)
Has human relations and supervisory skills.
e)
Has ability to organize and coordinate the work of others.
f)
Has ability to relate creatively with legislators and administrators.
g)
Understands the important role of pages.
Responsibilities:
1.
Organize and coordinate the work of all pages in all chambers and committee rooms.
2.
Supervise the work of pages.
3.
Intervene and solve problems encountered by pages.
4.
To conduct meetings with pages as required.
5.
To monitor notes IF the services of pages are abused.
6.
To work closely with the Bill Coordinator.
7.
To report periodically to the Speaker of the House and accept any directives given.

Has basic knowledge of the legislative process.
d)
Has a sense of alertness and prompt action in response to the need for service.
e)
Has the ability to follow directions.
g)
Understands the importance of this role to the legislative and administrative process.
Responsibilities:
1.
Working under the supervision of the Chief Page, to carry messages and materials for
officers and staff to designated locations throughout the Capitol.

To seek all opportunities possible to observe the various elements of the Model
Government Convention in action.  This is a valuable opportunity for those who wish to
participate in the future, helping them decide what position is of greatest interest.
