Every candidate should meet and greet every delegate in each new delegation
They are an untapped resource looking to be involved
Help draw them into the program by asking them to be a part of a campaign for one
of your candidates if they feel so inspired
Offer to support their candidates in exchange
The first clubs to establish a rapport with new clubs will be more likely to count on
them for support in future years!!
o
Be energetic and enthusiastic for your candidates!!!
Cheer loudly when your candidates are introduced (why should others be enthused
about your candidates if you aren’t???)
Actively ask other delegates to support your candidates
Ask your candidates’ opponents fair, but, tough questions
Plant tough questions for opponents with your allies in other clubs
o
Use your Caucus time wisely
Get there on time!
Pay attention and let the Delegation Leader run the session.
Offer helpful comments
Double check the math of the votes you are to cast
o
During roll call votes:
Have several delegates keep tab of the vote totals using calculators
Have a communication system in place to advise the DL how your candidates are
doing and how many votes they may need should a run-off occur
PASS if you are not certain of what you need…you can pass one time for each office
