Administrative Assistant
Qualifications: (same as Chief of Staff)
Additional Qualifications:
(d)
Has the ability to manage the governor's public relations.
(e)
Has ability to type with accuracy, neatness and moderate speed.
(f)
Has ability to keep clear, precise, accurate records and maintain them in an organized manner.
(g)
Has ability to work with others under pressure of deadlines.
Responsibilities:
1.
Attend any meeting deemed necessary by the Governor, keep accurate notes of the proceedings.
2.
Be responsible for having all records readily available and transferable to the Governor.
3.
Carry out directives issued by the Governor.
4.
Arrange and coordinate Governor's business and social calendar.
5.
Coordinate press releases.
Legislative Liaisons (4)
Qualifications:
a)
Is personally committed to the purpose and objectives of the Youth & Government Program and to
helping all participants realize its many benefits.
b)
Has thorough knowledge of bill writing procedures and the legislative process, and is able to
interpret the actions of the House and Senate.
c)
Has thorough knowledge of current social problems and issues.
d)
Has ability to speak clearly and accurately in public.
e)
Has ability to negotiate with others.
f)
Has ability to serve with cabinet members in determination of administrative policy and to work as a
member of the governor's staff to reach a common goal.
g)
It would be helpful to have participated in the immediate past Model Government Convention.
Responsibilities:
1.
Serves as liaison between the Administration and the Legislative Branch.
2.
Attends sessions of the House and Senate.
3.
Briefs the Executive Assistant on opinions and actions of the Legislative Branch.
4.
Lobbies for the views of the governor on all legislation.
5.
Prepare a 2-3 page summary identifying the potential issues which may come before the Legislature
and outlining the basic pro and con positions that may be taken.  (Due with Bills at registration)
